amichan: (NOLA)
 K began the readings using my Steampunk tarot. Her shuffling theme was "looking for 'the girl' meaning you know who and the first card she drew was
Page of Pentacles -- someone tied to the earth, very strong connections and lines, but being occluded as indicated by The Moon, drawn next, hidden from her True Potential. Next drawn Death (inverted), Ten of Swords and Ace of Pentacles she can either use her power to destroy or heal. Her true purpose is to heal but she's being manipulated by The Hierophant (inv)--he's supposed to be a warden but he's corrupted, The Devil, something happened to corrupt him and she should be able to heal the corruption but not while things are going like this.
(draws card while I'm writing) DAMNATION!
(shows me card: XVI Tower) Shit, says I.
(draws more cards for explanation): Two of Wands, Sun (inv), Page of Cups, Nine of Pentacles, Queen of Cups, Two of Pentacles (inv) with The Fool (inv)
The Nine =
Deschamps, Sun (inv) = Devereaux. Page and Queen, one is Carver one is Fournier/Mags (K's life).
draws Seven of Cups (inv)  which goes with the Page, meaning it's Carver. able to see layouts.
Queen of Cups is tied with King of Swords (inv) who came with Two of Pentacles and Fool (inverted) representing Kieran, so must be Mags.
These five destroy plans and take "her" out of isolation, but doesn't entirely answer the Tower.

Draws Eight of Swords, Page of Wands (inv), Judgement.
There have been things influencing her decisions but she's not with the warden anymore but still feels trapped and blocked by all the previous information.
Chariot, Three of Cups.
She has to make a sort of pilgrimage, and decides to give herself over "sacrifice". She's afraid and yet not that it will (Nine of Swords) destroy her but it will also (Six of Wands inv) destory her enemy (Six of Pentacles). She balances things tries to see further than she can (Three of Wands). Two of Cups and Six of Cups instead of making it about everyone she makes it about one person's happiness to save. So, she sacrifices herself without talking to everyone else about this decision.
Does it destroy everything?
Wheel (inv), Four of Wands
There is the sacrifice but things stop moving in a way, there's not exactly celebration, so enemy is gone? but yet powers don't end...what happened?
Turning over more cards but not getting anything...

So, went to the Halloween Oracle for 3-card relationship readings.
Kieran vs Mags.
Kieran=Skull of Darkness (blind spots)
Kieran needs to face things with help because he cannot face them himself and deal with his shit. He must rely on others to pull himself out of darkness.

Mags=Barnbrack (sweetness and synergy)
Mags needs to stop over anlayzing everything and take what is going on. Ironic comment about the fact that barnbrack has many things inside of it and she can split into many people (which doesn't help with the overanalyzing).

Relationship=Skull of Stars (infinite possibility)
Fuck society. Fuck the Watch. Fuck Stephenson. Fuck all y'all. Ignore what others say about the pillars and do what they know to be right. Combined they have the strength to withstand the obstacles provided stick to guns.

Kieran vs "the girl"
Kieran=The Lamp (remembrance)
? = Winter (sacredness of pausing)
Relationship = The Underworld (where all things pause and begin)

Kieran as the lamp is a becon to lead her and may reflect someone she hopes for in a sense "her William" as far as she thinks.

  • This is the point K was like OMG and started drawing more cards for the other reading.
  • So back to the Steampunk.

Devil, Hanged Man, Seven of Wands, Eight of Wands, Page of Pentacles (inverted) with Page of Swords.

She sacrifices herself with expectation of ending things but nothing changes powers wise in the outside world because it wasn't for the right reason. Her understanding misconstrued because Stephenson had been keeping her in the dark about the way society worked and the pillars weren't properly able to help her understand the real world before she went off "half-cocked" to her decision out of emotion but whatever she did to sacrifice herself caused instead a metamorphosis/evolution (no longer the Page of Pentacles, instead the Page of Swords comes back). When she comes back she has greater understanding, more strength, more power and is better able to do what she was supposed to in the first place but Stephenson stunted her in the hopes of bending her to his purpose.
  • Back to the Oracle reading.
Kieran vs "the girl"
Kieran=The Lamp (remembrance)
? = Winter (sacredness of pausing)
Relationship = The Underworld (where all things pause and begin)

Kieran as the lamp is a becon to lead her and may reflect someone she hopes for in a sense "her William" as far as she thinks.
Winter is a time of change but being afraid, preparing for a rebirth,
Underworld is sacfificing for a future life.

Mags vs. "the girl"
Megs = Witch (earthly weaver of worlds)
? = Wise seeing, wise action.
Relationship = Winter (sacredness of pausing)

Mags - others are threatened by your growing power but don't be discouraged you can heal things.
? needs wise council before acting. Needs to think logically and not emotionally.
In their relationship Mags must help ? to accept that change is necessary for growth. Things remain strained though until ?'s reawakening.

Then we decided to look for the Carver because they weren't mentioned during the regression, only the Dave equivalent and the Teague equivalent (K's life) and the Wuornos equivalent came up so we did.

Carver vs. Mags.

Carver = Trick or Treat (mischief and play)
Mags = Skull of Darkness (blind spot)
Relationship = Night song (hidden talents)

The Carver is wound very tight and can't let anything go especially to relax.

Then we did some die rolls about them.
Carver is female, older than Kieran, older than Mike (Deveraux/Dave equiv who is 32) but not by much. Works for watch (crit yes 4/100), conflicted about their work (crit no 96/100), but that is denial talking. Not exactly working against the watch (49/100).
Kieran knows the Carver (17/100).
Carver is chick who in game was called Allison Gallagher, one of the Watch members who is sent to clean up after Kieran does his work. She does not know she is the Carver but the Watch suspects. She has manifested a few powers but  not The Big One.

Back to reading:
Mags cards, blind spots happen because of pre-existing opinions about the Watch and attitudes, this shouldn't be done this way just because it always etc.
Mags must convince Alli to embrance the power she has as a pillar and make her own decisions but at the same time not act out of her own prejudice. There's also a good bit of "why do you trust KENNICK with this but not me?" and Alli bias against Kennick because the Watch has a bit of boogeyman thing about him and Alli has seen things Kennick has done.
Kennick being what the Watch knows Kieran as.
amichan: (kennick)
  • While he never officially gave his name it was to the guy whose birth name was Garriden Kennick, though he goes by Kieran when working at the bar (when Mags meets him) and definitely prefers that name.
It's dark. He's cuffed to the bed mostly to stop him leaving the ward. He's there because he fucked up and got caught for "relocating some things".
When K asks him if he wants to give his name or describe himself he makes a complaining noise but then says "mostly sweaty at the moment," and then tall, dark hair that's scraggly.
There's a dude in the room (a nurse) saying he deosn't have any sympathy for him, which K expressed wasn't nice until she was told that he had tried to break the guy's nose earlier.
The ward wasn't a hospital ward, exactly. It was a medical ward in the prison and he was there "drying out" (things not spoken off in the 'gression but that I understood considering having seen detox from Duke & Cam perspectives).
  • Move forward (outside note: he's now at a different facility. Previously at Centralia which in our world is a correctional facility in Illinois. This place begins with a Gr sound but didn't get the full name at any point).
It's end of meal time (guessing lunch given what was going on). The guards were dividing people as they were leaving the cafeteria. His group were supposed to be going the yard while others were going to classes or "shop", but he was pulled out of line by a guard and taken to the warden. Warden had transfer papers to send him back to Centralia but wouldn't explain why because he didn't give a shit.
He's put on a small bus with one other prisoner whose name he doesn't know. "No one [he's] gotten into a fight with anyway." He's near the front of the bus the other guy is near the back and they're driving. He slept a bit on the trip but then they were stopped. Three cop cars across the road, but then he was like shit there are people with powers around he could sense it partially in pulsing in his back where his "brand/tattoo" is.
Powered peeps knocked out the driver and the other guard using mind abilities, and he and the other prisoner both ran. They just let the other guy go but with three people with mind abilities it was impossible for him to fend them off and he was chased down and over powered. They're taking him on a trip across several states. Sitting in the back of a car between two people from the Watch.
  • Forward. A couple of days. They're stopped in Kentucky.
They'd stopped the night before at a hotel in a different state. They were stopping in pretty posh hotels as a side note not crappy motels; but now had detoured to Kentucky because they'd "recieved word from God," that there was a job to do. "Weird stuff" in the area. Doug and Joanna two of the Guard on the trip have been assigned to keep an eye on him while he's investigating.
Parts of people's farms are being blighted, corn fields and animals. The Watch wants to know if he can figure out who is causing it.
He's in a bar now and the guy is drinking brandy. Comment about it not being a fair fight if he's "two" sheets to the wind. He's not going to start a bar fight because that would be too obvious but he is going to follow him to the bathroom because he needs to "stop" him. He left him in the stall and went out the back. He'd broken his nose before breaking his neck because there had to be blood otherwise someone else in his family would get the power and it might start all over again.
K asks if he's okay. He says, "mostly."
He has to go back to the hotel to report to Stephenson via video conference. Doug stayed to clean up the scene and Joanna brought him back. Stephenson is reiterating something he was told the previous day that his freedom is conditional on him continuing to do these jobs and they'll put him back or send him down for his father's murder which will be even worse for him. Stephenson is also going on about what's going to happen in NOLA when he gets there the pseudo-job he'll have. The living situation they've set up for him, asking him what he remembers about the history of the town, about the hurricanes about the things his father did. He starts to argue with Stephenson, getting pissed about everything, and then because he's getting groggy from the down of the blood/power absorption but still being uppity because while Stephenson has a point about "dangerous powers" like hurricanes and firestorms and earthquakes and things he still doesn't like it. Joanna is able to get the drop on jabbing him with a needle and he goes out.
Work out later she stabbed him with heroin needle.
He spends pretty much the rest of the trip home high/sleeping on Joanna.
  • Forward K notes he was very mumbly and unable to focus. Said he was "fine" and "good" and everything was "okay", but she skipped him forward again to a point he was clearer.
At work, but "work" given at the bar, bringing up glasses. Making up hours because there was a "family trip" a couple of days ago.
Susan, aunt, making jokes about everything and apparently a new person coming in to audition. Susan yelling at Greg (husband) not to flirt with new chick who just came in. (Susan and Greg are Allbrights. Keegan Allbright owns local paper and works with Stephenson).
He/I thinks new chick has powers, hoping it's nothing major, can definitely tell she has something that makes her more agile, he's going to stay out of it and not press hopefully that's just it. (There are people who just have small amounts of power and nothing has to be done and he can get away with not reporting it after all -- internal thought). New girl is good and so now he's showering her around. This is the bar, the glasses, the store room, where the delivery comes in. Greg says, "This is Kieran's sleeping corner." "No, that's downstairs so no one disturbs me."
  • Forward a few days.
"Shit. Shit. She does have more powers."
Susan would make him walk her home just in case something happened because she's young and she has to walk, and there were actually muggers. She had something she could throw really well some sort of energy, and he can sense there are other powers beneath it things she hasn't used in front of him or shown. Her apartment is close to his (the other reason Susan said he should walk her).
He's not going to say anything still, doesn't want to have to creepy bloodhound stalk her, absently wonders if "they" have delivered his package yet. The payment for the "family trip".
The next day he gets the package (The usual payment: money and drugs), this time there's a note in it too. There's a threat on Stephenson's life. "Need info on the pillars. More info to follow." He thinks his family might be a pillar family which is apparently hilarious, because the pillars have something to do with the brands too especially as they randomly appear and then won't go away. He remembers Babineaux and Dechamps, and there are others, but then he started fading off again because with having gotten his payment he had gotten high.
